If you have issues with sending mail after upgrading, MacFixIt has an article on this.

After obtaining the proper settings for your mail account, Apple suggests these steps:

  1. From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
  2. Click Accounts, then select the account that is having issues sending messages.
  3. From the SMTP server pop-up menu (at the bottom of the window), choose “Edit SMTP Server List”.
  4. Click Advanced.
  5. Select the ‘Authentication’ pull down menu and select the appropriate authentication type (from your ISP or the Mail Online Setup Assistant).
  6. If necessary, fill in the username and password.
  7. Click OK

Snow Leopard’s out and I am still trying to get a copy for myself. It’s sold out everywhere since last Friday! I am going to make another attempt today whilst on my way to collect my name cards. For those of you who have yet to obtain a copy, you may want to go to the apple website to scope out a list of incompatible software here

Just found something interesting whilst using my Mac today. For all applications by Apple and some other software developers. I have not tried it out on all my current installed software yet but so far it works on TextEdit, Pages, MacJournal but it does NOT work on any of Microsoft products.

If you hit the “esc” key after an alphabet or a semi-completed word, a drop down list will appear allowing you to select the correct word that you want to use. This is particularly useful if you are unsure of the spelling of a certain word.

A new version of Blackberry’s Desktop software will be released in September that offers Mac syncing. This means, Mac users can now sync their iTunes playlists, and personal information from iCal and Address Book. To put it simply, you can now manage your Blackberry on a Mac. How cool is that? Now this little bit of morsel makes me want to consider getting one. And to tease us Mac users, Blackberry will be releasing the Curve 8250 around the same time which offers full Mac compatibility.

Here’s a pretty cool app I found recently. iPhoto To Disk allows you to export your media files to a well-structured folder hierarchy and it also allows flexible naming of your media files. To put it simply, if you are like me with a huge library of media files and you need to sieve through them and get them out for whatever reasons, this is the app that can do it. Download it here

At the request from a few people, I will continue to post here until June before I make the full transition to my new site

If you have multiple macs running at different locations, one of the most frustrating situations to be in is with your Safari bookmarks (assuming that you prefer Safari over Firefox) and you don’t have a MobileMe account.

Well, fret no more, Foxmarks has just released a Bookmark Sync add-on for Safari users. The add-on allows you to:-

  • Bookmark Sync
  • Backup and Restore
  • Online Bookmarks Access
  • Bookmarks Sharing
  • Sync Profiles
  • iPhone Bookmarks Sync

You can get it here

Most of us would have the need to do this at any one time when we use our Macs. In fact for me it is more of a daily occurrence. As always, I?d like to share what I have stumbled upon and this time it comes in the form of AltoMac Filemailer.

Just drag and drop whatever files you need to send to your intended recipient and Filemailer does the rest. No more circumstance emails or whatever. Everything?s automated. For the full write up on what Filemailer is all about, visit Altomac?s site.
