I did it. Got myself a new iPod Touch.

Call it a moment of weakness. But really, I couldn’t help but get it. I was extremely depressed after losing my iPod Nano. I felt like I’ve lost a limb. Just so happened that I had to passed a building where an Apple shop was located and I went in. When I saw the sordid display of iPods sitting pretty on the shelf, I had a raging tech hard-on and the iPod porn was just too much for me to handle. I walked in, got the gear, and walked out. You know what? I still feel a deep loss for my Nano. Even though I have a new and improved model.

I hope I can put the loss behind me but I doubt so. In keeping to perspective of this post, the iPod Touch is an awesome device. You never knew you’d need one until it is in the palm of your hands. The first thing I did when I got home was to get it jail-broken. For all you non Tech-Heads dying to install 3rd party Open Source applications, you can start your jailbreak here courtesy of ZiPhone. It’s a 45 second operation. Very painless.

This device has convinced me to get the new iPhone3G. No question about it. I am blown away. Connecting to the internet was a snap. I can now watch my movies on widescreen format on the go. Now all I need is a killer text editor app and I’m happy. For now Notes will suffice. yeah, so it isn’t exactly something that offers seamless integration between the iPod and your computer but for now, it’ll have to do.

For one thing, I am writing my entry on it. The virtual keyboard is something to be reckoned with. Extremely accurate. I hardly made any mistakes whilst typing this. It’s either the keyboard is very good or my experience with Bill’s mobile operating system has honed my fingertip typing skills.

Why didn’t I get one sooner?
